Welcome to the Shire of Danescombe, a proud part of the Principality of Tir Righ, in the Kingdom of An Tir, and a branch of the Society for Creative Anachronism.
Our shire covers a large area in the Okanagan Valley of BC, stretching from the mundane borders of Kelowna in the north, to the far edges of Penticton in south. If you live in these regions, we look forward to meeting you, and welcoming you to our shire.
As members of the SCA, we explore various aspects of medieval re-creation. These range from medieval dance to medieval cooking, sword fighting to heraldry, costuming to glass work, embroidery to leatherwork, and almost any other medieval craft you can imagine. Our populace is creative, energetic and very talented, and we look forward to helping you pursue your historical passion, and to sharing ours with you.

What is a Yale?
"There is an animal called the yale. It is black, as big as a
horse, with the tail of an elephant, the jaws of a boar and
unusually long horns, adjustable to any movement the animal
might make. For they are not fixed but move as the needs of
fighting require; the yale advances one of them as it fights, folding
the other back, so that if the tip of the first is damaged by a
blow, it is replaced by the point of the second.”
