Greetings all;

Below is the long version of the class list for the Tir Righ Heraldic Symposium (April 10), including descriptions, min/max students, and costs.  Please pre-register for the classes by contacting Her Ladyship Doireann Dechti, Black Bear Herald, at blackbear at tirrigh.org or bear_necessities at telus.net.  Some of the classes have very limited numbers, so pre-register early to guarantee a spot.

What's in a Name

This class will introduce students to the process for developing a registrable period name. This class will cover things to consider when picking a name, rules for names, common pitfalls, where to find resources, how to document a name (basic), filling out the form (when to mark the tick boxes), conflict checking names, etc. We will take a brief look at some cultural differences but will not go into them in any depth. The Tir Righ College of Heralds' name books will be available for the students to look at.

Gaelic Names That Won't Get Returned

In this class, we'll discuss Gaelic, Scots, and Anglicized Irish as naming cultures, then talk about how to document and construct a Gaelic name. At the end you'll have the tools to construct Gaelic names and get them right.

Italian Names

In this class, we'll explore names of the Italian Renaissance, looking at names, their structures, and where to find them for Tuscany. We'll then explore regional and temporal variability, from the Venuto to Sardinia and from the 13th c. until 1600.
