In Service, Caitrina Silver Yale -----Original Message----- From: northern-bounces at antir.sca.org [mailto:northern-bounces at antir.sca.org] On Behalf Of Mark Hood Sent: Tuesday, April 05, 2011 11:51 PM To: 'Northern' Subject: [northern] August Investiture, Quarterly Reports Greetings Tir Righ. I know it's still a ways off, but I wanted you to know that we've awarded August Investiture (Aug 26-28 2011) to the Shire of Shittimwoode. In their bid, they've proposed moving their annual "Warren War" event to the same weekend, and holding a combined event with Investiture. There are still a few scheduling details to be worked out, but after Their Highnesses and the Seneschalate debated and discussed the proposal, it was felt the bid had enough merit to be accepted. While I have your attention, the First Quarter (Jan-Feb-Mar) of 2011 has come to a close. Therefore, branch officers should be preparing their reports to their Principality Overlords. These reports are due by the end of the month, but wouldn't it be fantastic to get them done while the past quarter is still fresh? Wouldn't it be great not to get that email sometime around May 12th, asking "Where the heck is your report?" IOW, there can be identical arms in different countries (absent protection of non-SCA arms by Laurel, which only applies to SCA devices anyway). Second, AIUI the cottises/chevronels and the chevron on the Middleton arms are considered to be the same basic type, and thus both they and Meagan ferch Meredydd's device are "simple" for purposes to X.2; as the type(s) of the primary charge group are substantially different, the arms/device are clear. Third, if I misunderstand, they are still clear with a CD for changes to the field (X.4.a.i), the second for change in number in the primary charge group (X.4.f), the third for changing the type of the primary charge group (X.4.e), and the fourth and fifth for adding two different secondary charge groups (X.4.b)---Kate's acorns and cottises are separate secondary charge groups. Fourth, yes I know you were joking; I just thought it would be fun & interesting to treat the question seriously. ;-) ~~Basil Dragonstrike The path that I have chosen now has led me to a wall, and with each passing day I feel a little more like something dear was lost. It rises now before me, a dark and silent barrier between all I am, and all that I would ever want be. It's just a travesty; towering, marking off the boundaries my spirit would erase. --Kansas, "The Wall" From mrs_mhood at shaw.ca Fri Apr 29 04:41:41 2011 From: mrs_mhood at shaw.ca (Roxanne Hood) Date: Fri, 29 Apr 2011 04:41:41 -0700 Subject: [tirrigh-heralds] Red Flame Submission Herald is now OFFICIAL! Message-ID: <183C8D1BE65B4DC9955C8B0A5AD2E723@carncats.ca> Greetings! I'd like to thank everyone who has helped our Principality College get to this point. Your commentary and assistance to me has made all the difference and I thank you for helping me to retain some of my sanity. Yes only some, but not to worry because I was never 100% to begin with . >From here on, Alicia Red Flame is taking the task of creating the Internal Letter of Intent and all the other details that come with the job of the official Submissions Herald of Tir Righ. She has a lot of experience working in OSCAR (Online System for Commentary and Response) as a commentary Herald and the best person for the job. I will remain as the Silver Sparkes Herald (Admin clerk to Red Flame and archival Herald for the College) until such time as the job description is fully documented and a call for applications goes out. I expect to have this completed very soon so stay tuned. Play safe everyone, some of those charges are pointy. Last I heard we are missing reports from most of the Branches. If your Branch does not have a Herald it is up to the Seneschal to report on the offices behalf. Even saying, "nothing to report, no Branch herald presently." Is better than no report at all. Today is the last day to get the report in and not be included in the LATE column to the Principality Seneschal. In Service, Caitrina Silver Yale -----Original Message----- From: Mark Hood [] Sent: Thursday, April 28, 2011 10:35 PM Subject: Quarterly Reports Greetings all. With two days left before your name is included in the "LATE!" column, I thought I'd get this reminder out. Quarterly reports are due in two days. You're reporting on Jan-Feb-Mar 2011 activities of your branch. To your Principality Officer. Report. Go. Seneschals, not only do you need to report to me (thanks to those who have), but you need to rattle your officers' cages and get them to report upwards, as well. That's part of your fun and exciting job. It's why I pay you the big bucks. Principality officers, you need to ensure that all your reports are coming in for the branches that have your counterpart, or a note from the Seneschal regarding your sphere of influence. Then, get everything to your Kingdom boss by the 15th. Please. Or Else. Master Uilliam Seneschal, Tir Righ.
