The Board of Directors would like to express its gratitude for the
generosity of the good people of the SCA.  We know many of you are holding
fund-raisers and seeking ways to donate to the Society, thank you. We
deeply appreciate all your efforts. We have had many e-mails, telephone
calls and messages asking about donations.  Here are some guidelines for
donating or sending money to SCA Inc.



You are free to hold fundraisers or make personal donations, and the SCA
deeply appreciates your efforts and your support of our shared
organization. We would suggest that you make any such donations directly to
your Kingdom to help it pay the amount it will be required to contribute as
its part of the SCA?s obligations in the settlement. Some Kingdoms have
organized ACCEPS ?event? to accept donations, so if it is more convenient
for you to donate online, check the ACCEPS site to see if your Kingdom has
created a donation ?event.?  Any donations made through ACCEPS will go to
the Kingdom.



If you choose, you may also send a donation directly to the corporation,
and it will be gratefully accepted as a general donation toward the SCA?s
operating expenses. The corporate office is working on a Paypal account and
will add a button to the SCA?s website once the account is established. Any
donations sent directly to the corporate office or through the corporate
Paypal account will not be counted toward your Kingdom?s obligation.



We also encourage the membership to opt out of paper newsletters as soon as
possible because it reduces the amount of operating expenses the SCA must
pay. See your Kingdom newsletter or www.sca.org for more information on how
to opt out of paper newsletters. You will soon have access to the
electronic version of all the Kingdom?s newsletters!



We encourage our members to use one of these methods or to send a check
directly to your Kingdom Exchequer or the SCA's corporate office in
Milpitas to ensure your donation is received and put to its intended use.

Gentles.

It has been several weeks since I announced my resignation and to date there have been no applications for the position.  I know we have very capable people out there who are willing to serve our shire.  Please, talk to them and send in a nomination if they are not comfortable putting forth their name.  We need a strong and technically savvy officer with good people skills.  This shire has 50 paid members and at least an equal number who play but haven?t gotten a membership so we have a decent pool of talent from which to choose.

Remember our next meeting is by Skype on Sunday Feb 26 at 7 pm.  Mistress Cecille has asked that those holding the meetings download the latest version of Skype to better our reception.

Subject: [Hartwood] Happy Heritage Fair Demo!

Greetings, my lords and my ladies!

Here is a quick report on the Heritage Fair demo in Cumberland held today...

Wonderful demo!

The hall was -great-, and we were able to tell the organizers that we  
liked the OAP hall best. They loved the fashion show! Must do that one  
again. They loved the fighting, but it would've been nice if we had a  
few more fighters to make a bigger "splash". They loved watching the  
dancing, though they were a little shy about joining in (so we only  
did two dances... they were bransles... easy-peasy!). Aleyn and  
Cecille, the music was wonderful!

Both of the DVDs got a lot of watching (thanks to Elspeth and Dori);  
do that one again.

The photo booth was a hit! It'll be interesting to see how many people  
keep in touch because of it.

I heard many, many conversations about our passions, from the fighting  
arts and weapons (Mischa and Thorfinn) to music (Aleyn) to the textile  
arts (bobbin lace -and- inkle weaving), and much in between.

Thanks to everyone who participated! Your work in setting up, chatting  
up the passers by, and cleaning it all up again was wonderful! I am  
certain that many, many people will remember us... for a long, long  
time... ?

If you were not there, here are your hard-working compatriots:
Elspeth, Kjartan, Aleyn, Anicia, Marina, Elizabeth, Cecille, Joye,

Subject: [Hartwood] Seneshal application

Greetings Hartwood

It has been two months since I made my resignation known.  In that time I have called for someone to step forth and take up the office of Hartwood Seneschal.  I have received only one application which I have attached to this e-mail.  Please read the missive, consider the range and quality of this man?s service and be prepared to vote your choice at our Skype meeting.

If you have friends who do not keep an eye on the Hartwood e-list please pass this along to them.  I would like a full compliment of Hartwood members to participate in choosing your next leader.  As it is a Skype meeting no one need travel out of town to be a part of this.

dear Hartwood,

It would appear that we are unable to generate a decent number of bodies to hold our February meeting tonite.  
The Nanaimo hub is unavailable and several of the usual suspects are unable to attend.  Given the situation I am cancelling this meeting.

I apologize to those who may have already left for a hub near them but I didn?t get confirmation until just a few minutes ago.

If the council would send me their preferred next meeting date, I should be grateful for the input.

Well, next weekend is Kingdom A&S and I'll be gone. The weekend after  
is Daffodil, but that's just a one-day event. That Sunday?

Exchequer business:
1) The legal costs have been covered by Tir Righ; if they need  
anything from us, they will send an invoice.
2) Only Symmonne has submitted an event budget/proposal; at least,  
that's the only paperwork I have.
3) Fjorlief, cash that cheque, please.

Are we still having a face-to-face meeting on the TUTR weekend?

Maybe some of us (Emrys) need a count-down?

Greetings!



I'm happy to announce that we have six
confirmed merchants this year for Daffodil, though I'm still waiting
on a response from a couple. To this end, I would like to tell
everyone that there won't be an ATM at the site; please bring money
if you think you'll want to buy something. I can pretty much
guarantee that you will likely. I'd recommend $100, but you should go
for something within your budget. 

There will be cookies available for
donation; I'll be making sugar cookies, chocolate chip, oatmeal
raisin, and possibly bringing other baking I'll have time to make. I
will be making an effort to make each type gluten-free for those that
need it. These will be available at the cookie table, not passed
around by the children that are helping. If there is something you
like, let me know. 

Please check out the Merchant page on
the Daffodil site to see what some of the merchants will be
providing. It will be updated as we get more pictures and sites from
our merchants.

On a final note, if you are considering
merchanting at this event and are hesitant because you don't want to
miss out on watching the action, let me put that to rest. The
merchant tables will be set up between the feast area and the
fighting areas. If you would like to merchant and fight, please find
someone to cover your table while you're showing off your stuff! I
would be happy to help in any way I can.
Merchant fees cost $10. There will be
power, although it's discouraged, that is an additional $10. We will
provide a table, but you can have up to three. I will be there early
to set up the site with other helpers; the first comers get the best
spots, so please keep that in mind.
