Just a gentle reminder that ticket sales for Hartwood's Black Knight Masquerade are only open for one more week! This year's event will feature:

Weather is cold and wet. Sorry guys.

Given the turn of weather, is anyone interested in renting that barn for a test run? It's officially unheated, but there is a heater in there that we can pay to make run -- no promises on how well it works, though.

Due to miscommunication with my manager I have to work Saturday... This 
means that I will still be able to attend Black Knight but I will be late 
and - depending on how long it runs- possibly miss the council meeting.  If 
someone else can bring a computer and take the meeting minutes I would be 
most grateful.


On a different note:  For those of you wishing to submit articles and/or 
pictures this newsletter the following are the forms you need to fill out

another option for those of you wishing to submit articles and/or pictures the newsletter, the following are the forms you need to fill out and give to Elizabeth. These are the same forms however can be filled out and saved with an electronic signature and sent to her and she can save them to her computer and save all the paper printing and filing. then when shes done with her term in office she can just copy all of these forms to a thumb drive or burn to a disc and pass on to her successor.

I have been using this in seagirt now and have found it alot eaiser to keep track of the forms.

Hello everyone...  Recovered from overeating at Black Knight yet?
Just want to thank everyone who worked so hard ... Especially the Feastocrat, Lady Fjorleif (who I heard also put in a lot of time on the pouch tokens) and her daughter Meaghan who did scullery duty with efficiency and a smile....and our first time Event Steward lady Symonne  who may eventually recover enough to try it again some day....We appreciate all your hard work ladies... Hazzah!
HL Zoran?s soup and that yummy garlic butter with our bread got the meal off to a good start for me.  I was happy to see the rabbit and goat dishes that went with the second remove as they are less common food items at feasts in these modern middle ages... Not enough goat though    And though the marzipan was a tasty second choice, I really loved those tarts for dessert.  I ate two despite being full to bursting.
The masks competition was fierce and I honestly had a hard time deciding which one I thought should win... So much hard work went into such wonderful masks.  Regarding the cod piece competition... not enough entries for us ladies to check out I?m afraid... and while out two bardic competitors sang beautifully I would like to have heard more.
It was great to see our friends from afar again and I even got to have a laugh and giggle with some old time SCA friends who have not been seen at events for a while.
I did loose a silver and black mask... if anyone found it let me know please....It was my daughters and now I am in the doghouse ... so roll over Tierce

North Hartwood A&S: Sampler Books - Braids

For the next 3 weeks (not counting Hallowe'en) we're putting together those
sampler books for fingerloop braiding, kumihimo, standard multi-strand
braids, and whatever other styles you wish to keep track of.

Please bring paper for quires, yarn-of-choice, braid-directions if you have
them, note-taking materials, and any braid samples you have that are ready
to go!

(Note:  I'm still taking it easy, so help with this project will be greatly
appreciated.  Thanks, everyone!)
