[Hartwood] Some notes from Investiture, Feb 2013

Tassels are an age-old archery thing. They are used for two things. 1) To wipe off your arrows if they land in the water or the mud. 2) The colour denotes your current archery rank. They mirror the 5 colour target

 

In An Tir the ranks are (based on submitted Royal Rounds averages):

 

Green - Tyro (10-19)

White (silver) - Novice (20-39)

Black - Archer (40-59)


Blue - Bowman (60-79)

Red - Master Bowman (80-99)

Yellow (Gold) - Grand Master Bowman (100-119)

Checky Or and Argent - Ludicrous Bowman (120-139)

 

 

Some people believe in collecting and keeping each colour as you rise in rank, others in replacing an old one with a new rank colour. You can have more than one tassel as they are given for each different division. For example, I have one for period crossbow. This year I am working on period longbow.
