The book is "Database Design for Mere Mortals", by Michael J
Hernandez. Excellent for the design stage. (I'm also currently
studying Joomla!, because the Tir Righ site will eventually converted
to it. My brain is seriously expanding...)

In the next couple of days, I will scoop the info that John has
already fed me, and send it on to the UTR webteam, with a copy to him;
evidently, he likes puzzles and challenges...

My estimation was based on solid working hours, which I -know- we
don't have. Likely the advantage of that is a chance to sleep on a
problem before tackling it.

The expected length of development is why I want to get the easy stuff
out there now: contact info, booklets, hand-outs. Then we can bring
sections online as we develop them; we'll be able to make
announcements at each stage of the process, again helping to keep us
in the minds of the populace. (And there will be lots of "Why don't
you add a section for..." It's probable...)

Quoting Judy Harcus <jdharcus at telus.net>:

This does not seem unreasonable to me, and considering none of us are
doing this regularly at the moment, I wouldn't be surprised if this
was an underestimation.

What's the name and author of the book, Halima?

The database(s) will be the biggest chunk. In discussion with John,
who created the Ithra site and database, some 38 tables may very well

be needed. John suggested a book for designing databases, and those
involved in our database creation may very well want to read it, too
(mine is on order), so we have a common "language". Timeline: I
expect 40 hours for the framework (please prove me overestimating, but
several hours for determining all the fields required and where they
should be stored, more time to determine how to sort and access
[index fields], and more time to actually do the coding).
