Welcome Dori and Halima.

As you can see I am dressed to work in my plainest linen tunic. I finally
got the embroidery done around the neckline of my pale purple under gown. I
think the leaves go well with it and I have plans to add flowers. That will
no doubt take another 2 years :)

As usual I am behind schedule ... an irritation or just part of my charm
depends on your personality, does it not?

Either way, I need help decorating. Perhaps you can help me put up the
banners and set up some tables? I had a thought to putting large tapestries
around the great hall. I have also chosen plain white table cloths and
because it is Mayday I wish to bring a few of the cherry blossoms and put
them on the tables. Do either of you have any ideas...

Also, since you two have so kindly introduced yourself I shall do so as
well...

Today I am Lady Elizabeth Chatfeld. (Tomorrow I may be Lizzie Cook or John
Thomas Chatfeld.)

Elizabeth was born in England 1329 during the tumultuous Reign of the Sixth
Henry. My early years saw much conflict in my country.

Originally my family supported the Lancaster cause but my father found it
prudent to wed me to a follower of the House of York. He was an older man
and not much to my liking. He died within a few years of our marriage and a
widow alone with two children, I quickly wed again. My second husband went
to war and failed to return. For a second time I was alone in the world with
two young children. I was most grateful when I was given the support of
Lord Bardric Reynolds, a young man recommended to me by friends as being a
trustworthy companion. On the assumption that I am truly a widow, I have
been trothplight to him these last thirteen years and we have a young
daughter named Mary.

I do all the things a woman should, although I must confess to being poor
with a needle. I greatly enjoy weaving and organizing my household.
Because I have been taught to read and write in the modern style, I also
occupy much time composing verse.

It is now 1378. My parents were wise for now Henry is no longer king. I
must confess that this Edward, the King from the House of York, is proving
to be an able ruler. May he live long and may England prosper under his
command.

Elizabeth
