I am Colin Mackay of Balmaghie, a 17th Century Highland Mercenary Soldier.
Captain in the Mackay regiment fighting under his Swedish Majesty Gustavus
Adolphus, for the liberation of the Spanish Netherlands. In the SCA I have
done lots taught lots learned much more, over about 30 years. I have till
last fall lived in Lions Gate, and now live in Central Hartwood, (Qualicum
Beach) and have come to realise that no one can pass from the North
(Anciently Cragmere) or the South (Ancient Hartwood) or the West (Ancient
Ravensley) without passing through my territory and paying me toll! This way
I might just recoup the back taxes that Mistress Meredith promised me on the
Shires recognition by the NSCA of which I was then President. The tax was
levied (Yet never paid!) as my mundane name is Hart and my parents have had
wooded land in the area, long before the Shire was founded. This is one of
the great untold stories of Tir Righ! I have done all 3 forms of Combat
Heavy Light and Rapier, and was fortunate enough to be able to do these
while light armour was still an option. After 30 years of off and on heavy
combat I will be hanging up the heavy suit after this year's Clinton War,
there are fighters on the field now, who were not yet born when I started to
fight, and I have no wish (Indeed I fear it could happen!) that a 2nd
generation appear as well!
